Love borne of God – ἀγαπάω

1Jo 5:1 (ESV) — Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him

I believe. Does that mean I am saved? You have been saved since God predestined your creation. We have thrown it away. I believe every one of us has been created for that very purpose but our propensity to sin has taken us away from salvation. Don’t think God has never offered us salvation. Even in the Old Testament YHWH has offered us salvation through the His chosen people but we have all failed. We are burdened by our very nature by sin.

Look into a mirror and ask yourself if you are free from sin and undeserved for condemnation. Our accumulated sins would condemn us repeatedly and there is no hope. It is Jesus Christ who took that condemnation away and provided us with the path to righteousness.

You believe but can you love? Not mortal love (phileo) but divine love (agape). Jesus repeatedly talked to his disciples about the love borne from the Father. A love so pure that no mortal choices can deter us from it. Is it that simple? No, it is not. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells within us that gives us the ability to love as God loves.

There is nothing of this world that can benefit us in the Kingdom to come.

If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
John 15:10 ESV

If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
John 15:19 ESV

Only in love can we walk a path and only through love can God dwell within us.

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
John 14:23 ESV

God Bless.
